NOAA: Morning weather briefing 03/06/17

Milder this week after a cold start

Monday Morning Briefing:

* Milder this week after a very cold start this morning.
* Spotty light icing possible early Tuesday across the interior.

Good morning everyone!

After a very cold start to the day, with temperatures in the single numbers and teens, highs will rebound into the 30s and lower 40s this afternoon with plenty of sunshine.

Milder weather is on the way for much of this week, but before it arrives, we may have to deal with some spotty, light icing across parts of western and central Massachusetts and possibly northern Connecticut early Tuesday morning (3-9 am).

A few showers will arrive overnight and it may be cold enough for the rain to freeze into ice as it hits the ground in some of those locations. Any icing is not expected to be widespread, but it only takes a light coating of ice to make driving dangerous. For now, be aware of the potential, and stay tuned to the latest forecasts.

Farther south and east, into Rhode Island and eastern Massachusetts, it will be warm enough for plain rain.

During the day Tuesday, milder air will work its way into the region ahead of a cold front, which will be accompanied by a few showers from time to time. Highs will top out in the 40s and lower 50s.
