Water Works Construction on West Main Street in Hyannis

Most work to be done this spring, final paving in the fall

The Town of Barnstable Department of Public Works’ Water Supply Division will be starting a water works construction project that will improve the water quality and fire flows for customers of the Hyannis Water System.

This project will clean and line approximately 4,000 feet of 8-inch water main on West Main Street from the West end rotary to Lafrance Avenue. Included in the project are the replacement of valves, fire hydrants and customer water services up to the property line.

A temporary water bypass system will be installed to maintain a continuous supply of water during this project. The major work is anticipated to be done this spring and final paving to be completed in the fall of 2017.

There may be brief periods of water service interruption in the area. Prior to any anticipated service interruption, residents will be given 48 hours notice by the contractor.

The specific notices will be distributed to the residents affected by shut-downs, indicating time and day of each shut-down.

For questions relative to this project call Michael Gorenstein, Project Manager, at (508) 775-0063.
