Chatham Bars Inn is thrilled to announce that Future Chefs has been nominated as Outstanding Industry Partner for the Massachusetts Lodging Association’s Stars of the Industry Awards. The award program was created more than 40 years ago by the American Hotel & Lodging Association to recognize outstanding accomplishments in the lodging industry. It honors lodging employees and properties that best symbolize the quality service of the hospitality industry.

Chatham Bars Inn has continuously been a strong supporter and cheerleader for youth entering the hospitality industry. Through the property’s collaboration with the Boston-based organization Future Chefs, Chatham Bars Inn has witnessed the incredible efforts by a group of caring professionals who finds talented youth, creates a path for them to enter the hotel and food service industry and prepares them to play an integral role in those businesses. Future Chefs excels at engaging students through excitement, knowledge, pathways, and security, ultimately helping them find their way, their passion and their future within the hospitality industry.

Chatham Bars Inn has organized joint events with Future Chefs to advance the organization’s “school to career” process. High school students complete Culinary Pathways programming which involves two phases, Exploration (being connected to successful chefs and food & beverage professionals), and Making the Plan (Future Chefs staff guides the students through their career planning process). In phase three, students enter Culinary Success (the students are transitioned with the help of Future Chefs staff into work, school, and additional training), which includes authentic work through the Apprenticeship Program. Following that, participants become part of the Future Chefs Alumni, where the student’s hard work and motivation to succeed is realized when they pursue their first professional job and find employment as well as being peer leaders to younger Future Chefs in high school programming.

Chatham Bars Inn and Future Chefs are honored to be considered for this year’s Outstanding Industry Awards. Winners will be announced at the annual luncheon hosted by the Massachusetts Lodging Association and taking place on April 7, 2017 in Boston, MA.
