From the Barnstable DPW:
MASS DOT PAVEMENT MILL & OVERLAY AT ROUTE 28 AIRPORT ROTARY
(JUNCTION OF IYANNOUGH, BARNSTABLE, AND FALMOUTH ROADS)
Beginning at 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, weather permitting, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and Lawrence-Lynch Corp. will be performing improvements at the Route 28 Airport Rotary in Hyannis. This rotary is located at the junction of Iyannough, Barnstable, and Falmouth Roads. Improvements include milling and paving of the entire width of the pavement within the rotary, one lane at a time. With the exception of applying new pavement markings, the work is expected to be completed by 5:00 AM on Sunday, May 14, 2017, weather permitting.
Work will be performed at night in order to minimize impacts on traffic flow. On Tuesday, May 9th, the contractor is schedule to mill the pavement between the hours of 8:00 PM to 3:00 AM the following morning, May 10th. On Sunday, May 14th, the contractor is scheduled to pave the rotary between the hours of 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the next morning, May 15th. On a subsequent date yet to be determined, the contractor will apply pavement markings on the new pavement surface; this is planned to be overnight work as well.
While one lane in the rotary will remain open to traffic at all times during the improvements, motorists are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid the construction work. During the several days after the pavement has been milled and is pending a fresh layer of pavement, the temporary pavement surface will be rough. Motorists, especially motorcyclists, are urged to please slow down and use extreme caution when traveling through the road construction areas, and follow posted safety signs.
