Nauset Beach OSV Closure Update

Piping plovers will be afoot once again

From the Town of Orleans:

Please be advised that Nauset Beach South is tentatively scheduled to be closed on June 7, 2017 at 6 AM due to the presence of unfledged Piping plover chicks. Chatham North Beach, south of Exit 6, is tentatively scheduled to close on June 5, at 7 AM.  The Nauset Spit in Orleans has no definitive closure date at this time. It is possible that by mid June that there may be juvenile shorebirds present in the vicinity of Callanan's Pass.  If a shift in the predicted daily foraging range of these birds occurs, then management may be forced to close Callanan's Pass immediately at that time.

We appreciate all your support. Please respect all symbolic fencing and shorebird closures. And remember, "first time successful nesting leads to minimal closures!"
