One of the great things about the Lower Cape are its hometown elementary schools and their cherished traditions.

In Eastham one of those traditions is the annual walk to Evergreen Cemetery to honor Memorial Day.  We duly note the Eastham Police Department's Facebook coverage of the sojourn:

This morning, a traffic escort was provided while the students, staff, and parents of Eastham Elementary School marched from the school to the Evergreen Cemetery to pay their respects to those who served in the United States Armed Forces. We are proud each year to assist with this event which is a long standing tradition at Eastham Elementary School. As we approach Memorial Day, let's all take a moment to remember those who have served.
