The Cape Cod Maritime Museum is pleased to announce their new summer program for children aged 5-18. Morning drop off programs will be teacher led with specific STEAM related themes that are age appropriate.
Drop in, with parent or guardian, programs will be held each afternoon from 1-3 p.m. and will be appropriate for all ages.
Of special interest are the Friday morning drawing classes for children aged 10 and up. Students can come to one or more classes and will learn skills to draw boats, buildings and the people visiting the nearby Hyannis Harbor.

Classes will be held outdoors when possible. Please bring a peanut free snack, water, a hat and sunscreen.

Water Wizards, ages 5-7
Mondays, 9:30-noon, $18 members/$24 non-members per class., per child.
June 26, Wet and Wild! Water is amazing and fun! Come explore several properties of water such as surface tension, refraction and buoyancy. Wear your bathing suit if you want. (No swimming)
July 3, Boats, Boats and More Boats! Come explore what makes a boat float or sink as well as make your own boats out of found and recycled materials.
July 10, Bubbles, Bubbles, Toys and Troubles! Explore and create all sorts of bubbles and bubble toys . Be prepared to get wet and possibly messy.
July 17, Sea Creatures Rock! Discover what it takes for an animal to survive in the ocean and observe some live sea creatures. Make your own real or imagined sea creature.
July 24, Weather Wizardry! Make waves, clouds and a tornado in a jar. Learn about the water table on Cape Cod and how the weather affects our ecology. Craft included.
July 31, Fantastic Fins! Fish have fins but so do marine mammals like whales and dolphins. Learn about the finned animals that live around Cape Cod. Make a fish print.
August 7, Sand, Seashell and Seaweed Art! Color sand, craft with shells, and make some cool seaweed art!

June 27, Water, Water, Everywhere! Explore basic and advanced properties of water such as buoyancy, surface tension and refraction through experiments and play. You’ll get wet in this one so bathing suits are welcome. (No swimming)
July 11, What Floats Your Boat? See how real boats are made and then make some boats of your own with found and recycled materials.
July 18, Boats in Motion! Discover fun ways to make different kinds of boats move through the water. This is a hands on program.
July 25, Water Creatures, Big and Small! From snails to whales we will explore the different adaptations animals have made to live in the sea. Craft included.
August 1, Weather Wizardry! Learn how to make waves, tornadoes, clouds and fog, floods and droughts. We will also look at the ways weather affects our coastline and make a craft.

Art on the Waterfront, Ages 8 –18
Friday Mornings, 9:30-noon,
$18 members/$24 non-members, per class, per child
Bring your own sketchbook, pencil or pen and prepare to have fun drawing boats, people and buildings at the Hyannis Inner Harbor with long time art instructor, Mary Richmond. On rainy days we will work from the museum collections. Learn how to draw with shading and some secrets of perspective. All levels welcome. Each young artist will work at their own pace and level.
Daily Drop -ns, all ages with an adult, Purchase kit at front desk, program downstairs any time between 1 and 3 p.m.
