Community Leadership Institute Seeks Executive Director

Program graduated over 650 in 26 years...

The Community Leadership Institute of Cape Cod has announced that they are searching for their first Executive Director. The Board run organization has been in existence since 1991 and has been managed at times by a part time Program Coordinator, and then completely by the Board since 2012.

CLI runs the Leadership Cape Cod program on a yearly basis. Over the past 26 years this program has over 650 graduates who have gone on to lead many companies, non- profits, and serve on the boards of other organizations throughout the Cape & Islands.

“The decision to bring on an Executive Director in a part time capacity will allow the organization to pursue further ways to work with Alumni, Local Leadership and Future Leaders to strengthen our community,” said Board Vice President Marty Bruemmel.

The new Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors. She/he will provide strategic leadership and direction to fulfill CLI’s objectives, improve and expand programs, and ensure the organization’s financial viability and growth. The Executive Director plays a key role in supporting, creating and implementing program initiatives to ensure organizational success and the fulfillment of its vision and potential.

Job Description

The Community Leadership Institute of Cape Cod (CLI) is seeking a new motivated leader, and dynamic visionary to serve as Executive Director. The part-time position is responsible for the overall management and direction of the organization in accordance with its vision and mission. The primary mission of CLI is to foster the growth of existing and potential community leaders on Cape Cod and the Islands. The successful candidate is an enthusiastic and successful leader with proven management skills and expertise in the nonprofit sector.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Executive Director reports and works closely with the Board of Directors. She/he will provide strategic leadership and direction to fulfill CLI’s objectives, improve and expand programs, and ensure the organization’s financial viability and growth. The Executive Director plays a key role in supporting, creating and implementing program initiatives to ensure organizational success and the fulfillment of its vision and potential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 Acting as spokesperson for CLI in collaboration with the Chair of the Board;
 Leading the growth of CLI on Cape Cod including program and resource development;
 Effectively allocating resources in support of CLI’s mission;
 Supporting of the Board of Directors and its Committees;
 Coordinating and performing key administrative functions; 
 Attending all CLI sessions;
 Ensuring periodic review of strategic plans and implementation of short and long-range goals and objectives adopted by the Board;
 Directing operations in conjunction with the Board of Directors to ensure the organization’s fiscal strength;
 Keeping informed on social, community and national issues, programs, trends and standards as they relate to leadership;
 Facilitate the networking of alumni, participants and others to help solve community problems

DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

 Passionate commitment to the mission and vision of the CLI;
 Track record of overseeing/managing successful fundraising and resource development;
 Previous top-level business or nonprofit management experience including planning, work with a board of directors and work with diverse and multiple constituencies;
 Fiscal management experience;
 Capacity to involve and mobilize a wide range of people in shared initiatives;
 Experience in program development, evaluation and community building;
 Proven ability to listen, write and speak well;
 The highest level of personal and professional integrity and quality standards;
 Extensive familiarity with CLI Cape Cod, preferred;
 Bachelor’s degree required.

Who We Are

Since 1992, 600 graduates of the Community Leadership Institute of Cape Cod (CLI) have learned about leadership from prominent community leaders in business, healthcare, the arts, education, social services and more. CLI class members learn about the issues facing Cape Cod and the Islands, and how they can become more involved in providing the leadership needed in the community to help solve these problems. Classes begin each January. The Community Leadership Institute of Cape Cod is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit associated with the National Association of Community Leadership.
