Sailing Heals Announces Upcoming Sails for Hyannis, Islands

Provides relaxing sails to individuals with cancer, other serious illnesses.

In its sixth year of operation, the Massachusetts-based Sailing Heals is pleased to continue offering complimentary seaside lunches and invigorating healing sails around the region and around the country, primarily for cancer patients and their caregivers. Following a full calendar this sailing season out of their Marblehead, MA home base, Sailing Heals will make additional stops in Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and Hyannis this month. The “wind” in the non-profit organization’s sails is generated by corporate sponsors, private donors and their volunteer host captain corps who donate their time and beautiful sailing- and motoryachting vessels to host VIP Guests for leisurely afternoons on the water.

Since its founding in 2011, Sailing Heals has hosted more than 2,800 VIP guests in more than 20 ports across nine U.S. states.

Sailing Heals’ Board Member, Dr. Lori Wirth of Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, said this about the organization, “Sailing Heals offers our patients who are going through one of the greatest challenges in life a chance to get away from it all and simply enjoy a healing day out on a beautiful boat on the water with family and friends. The joy and memories that result can last forever. My own patients have come back with so many great stories that I’ve even began ‘prescribing’ a day with Sailing Heals to some of them.”

Caroline F., a VIP Guest from Nantucket, remarked, “I can't thank you enough for yesterday—what an incredible experience and spirit-lifter! Being on the ocean in that glorious boat was wonderful but what the crew, the owner and the staff adds is pure magic! It was a divine experience that will be with me forever! Thank you, Thank you, Thank You!”

Upcoming events on Cape Cod and the Islands are offered to those who have already pre-registered on the Sailing Heals website (www.sailingheals.org) and will be held:

• Wednesday, August 16th, Edgartown Yacht Club, Martha’s Vineyard
• Monday, August 21st, CRU/Boat Basin, Nantucket
• Saturday, August 26th, Hyannis Yacht Club, Hyannis

While these sails are fully booked, Sailing Heals reserves a seat or two for editorial guests wishing to cover each sail. Additional regional sails will be held in Rhode Island (Portsmouth and Newport) and New York (Sag Harbor and Larchmont) before the east coast’s season wraps up in Annapolis in early Fall. Registrations for next year’s season will begin in early June, 2018.
