Beaty Issues Public Statement on Cape Cod Commission Transition

Supports formation of search committee
County Commissioner Ron Beaty

Statement issued by County Commissioner Ron Beaty:

Due to recent unusual events and public statements by others regarding the CAPE COD COMMISSION leadership transition process, I feel compelled to issue this brief public statement of my own.

Speaking as one individual Barnstable County Commissioner, for the sake of OPEN, TRANSPARENT and ACCOUNTABLE REGIONAL GOVERNMENT, I strongly believe a search committee should be empaneled at the earliest opportunity to find a new CAPE COD COMMISSION Executive Director.

Not to do so unnecessarily casts doubt upon  the integrity of the leadership transition process, would be against the public interest, and will jeopardize public confidence in, and call into question the LEGITIMACY of the powerful county land use planning and regulatory agency itself!

Thank you.
