February 10th at Jonathan Bourne Public Library...

Registered Democrats in Bourne will hold a caucus in the meeting room of the Jonathan Bourne Public Library, 19 Sandwich Road, Bourne Village, on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m. to elect delegates to the 2018 Massachusetts Democratic State Convention.

The caucus will be followed at 11 a.m. by the February meeting of the Bourne Democratic Town Committee, also in the library meeting room.

The convention, where Democrats from across Massachusetts will gather to endorse Democratic candidates for statewide office, including Constitutional Officers and gubernatorial candidates, will be held on Friday and Saturday, June 1-2, at the DCU Center in Worcester.

Bourne can elect eight delegates and four alternates to the convention. Delegates must be present at the caucus to be elected.

The caucus is open to all registered and pre-registered Democrats in Bourne, and the Bourne Democratic Town Committee welcomes participants. Pre-registered Democrats who will be 18 by September 18, 2018, will be allowed to participate and run as a delegate or alternate.

Any person not shown on a party registration list must either provide proof of Democratic Party registration or preregistration or register or preregister on the day of the caucus. Doors open at 9 a.m., and voter registration forms will be available at 9:30 a.m. The caucus is an open Democratic Party meeting; no person shall be denied admittance. An area will be set aside for those not eligible to vote in the caucus.

“As we have seen throughout our state and nationwide, we must remain as vigilant as ever to ensure that our values are the guiding principles for our governance,” said Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair Gus Bickford. “We are the Party of inclusion. We are the Party dedicated to fighting to better the lives of all – including our working families, seniors, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+, and communities of color. We look forward to coming together, as a Party, to ensure we are electing strong Democratic candidates to fight for us at home and in Washington.”

The Bourne Democratic Town Committee normally meets on the third Thursday of the month at the Bourne Veterans Memorial Community Building, Main Street, Buzzards Bay. Meetings are open to the public.
