Local Pol Smokes Cannabis Control Commission

Cannabis Control Commission violated Open Meeting Law...

To be sure, Barnstable County Commissioner Ronald Beaty is one of the Cape's self-appointed enforcers of the state's Open Meeting Law (OML).  If Mr. Beaty feels a local or state group has violated the OML, he is quick to raise the issue and often files a complaint with the office of the Attorney General.

Beaty's recent OML victories include a ruling that the State Ethics Commission violated OML.  This week, he received notice of the AG's office found that the Cannabis Control Commission had violated the Open Meeting Law by failing to record the date and time when the notice of its October 17th meeting was posted.

The AG's office resolved the complaint with "informal action" and stated that the matter had been resolved with its notice.

In addition to serving as County Commissioner, Mr. Beaty is a Republican candidate for State Representative in the Fifth Barnstable District.
