Bourne Selectman Held Without Bail as Dangerous

Michael Blanton faces additional charges...

A Falmouth District Court Judge has ordered Bourne Selectman Michael Blanton held without bail on domestic violence charges.  He was originally arrested last week for allegedly attacking a woman and threatening her with a baseball bat.

Today's proceeding included new charges from an attack the same victim alleges from November, when she alleges Mr. Blaton choked her and threw her into a bathtub.

At today's dangerousness hearing, Judge Lisa Edmonds ordered Blanton held until a pretrial hearing scheduled for March 27th.  Blanton can be held up to 120 days before trial if a judge holds he is a danger to himself or to the community.

Blanton is being represented by noted defense attorney Drew Segadelli.  He remains a member of the Bourne Board of Selectmen at this time.  Blanton's term expires in May.  He had been expected to run for re-election.

Michael Blanton is an independent real estate broker.  He is the outreach coordinator for the Bourne Democratic Town Committee.
