The so-called "retail apocalypse" may soon touch Hyannis.  Today's business media reports indicate that retailer Toys 'R' Us appears to be preparing to liquidate and close all of its retail stores.

Toys 'R' Us and Babies 'R' Us are anchor tenants at the Festival plaza in Hyannis.

Bloomberg news reports that the situation is still fluid and it's possible a rescue plan might stlll emerge.

Toys 'R' Us started 2018 with 800 stores in the United States.  In January the retailer announced it would be closing 180 locations.  The Hyannis stores were not included in the January closing list.
