PFLAG Cape Cod to Host Presentations on Financial & Retirement Planning for the LGBTQ Community

RSVP in advance for this important topic to be presented at the PFLAG meetings in Brewster and Falmouth

All people, irrespective of their sexuality or gender identity, want to pursue the dream of more leisure, freedom, and a sense of enjoyment in retirement. But the road traveled by LGBT people to reach that destination is often different from that taken by straight people. Family structure, support networks, and career choices continue to vary between LGBT people and heterosexuals, which impacts how they plan for and live their lives in retirement.

PFLAG Cape Cod will address this important topic during a presentation to be given at both PFLAG meetings in April. The first will be held on Monday, April 16th at First Parish Brewster/UU Church, 1969 Main Street (Route 6A) in Brewster with Paul Goddu of Highland Financial Group. The second will be held on Tuesday, April 24th at Falmouth Jewish Congregation, 7 Hatchville Road in East Falmouth with Mike Martin, CFP® and Michaela Herlihy, CFP® of Beacon Financial Planning of Cape Cod, Inc., a local, fee-only financial planning firm. Both presentations will be from 7:00-7:45 pm and will be followed by a support meeting until 8:30 pm for those interested.

PFLAG hopes these presentations will lead to a greater shared understanding of the differences between LGBTQ people and straight people in their retirement preparations, and raise awareness about some of the changes that are necessary to create a more inclusive environment based on principles of equality.

RSVP to this event in advance and be entered in a raffle to win a basket filled with gifts from area merchants! Just go to and follow the links in the calendar of events to RSVP.
