Hyannis, MA  The Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce announces its support of Bill: H.3528, An Act promoting the proper disposal of miniatures, presented by Representative Randy Hunt (R-Sandwich) along with 31 cosponsors including Rep. Crocker and Senator Cyr.

This bill adds miniatures, colloquially known as nips, to the list of containers requiring a deposit. Miniatures are a significant trash problem in almost all areas of Barnstable and particularly in more urban areas. "This type of trash casts a negative shadow on the entire community and needs to be controlled. In an area that is so reliant on the tourism industry, we can not allow our streets to be littered with used alcohol bottles," said Todd Deluca, chamber president. "We need to take action that will aid in cleaning up the litter and especially used liquor containers," he said.

The Chamber encourages other organizations including local government boards and councils to express their support for this legislation.
