Eastham Police Release Identity of Bike Crash Victim

73 year old Connecticut man suffered head injury...

On Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at approximately 0840hrs the Eastham Police Department and Eastham Fire and Rescue Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle striking a bicyclist on Herring Brook Road near Bridge Pond Road.

The first responding units located a bicyclist on the ground in the roadway with a significant head injury. It was also quickly determined that there was not a motor vehicle involved in the incident.

The injured bicyclist was transported by the Eastham Fire Department to Barnstable Municipal Airport to meet a waiting MedFight helicopter. The identity of the cyclist was unable to be determined at the time of the incident.

Later in the day, the identity of the victim was determined to be Andrzej Siwik, age 73, of Connecticut.

Mr. Siwik was flown to a RI hospital for medical treatment and there is no update on his status at this time.
