HYANNIS  --The Hyannis HyArts Artist Shanties at Hyannis Harbor/Bismore Park, and Harbor Overlook/corner South & Ocean, are open from 11:00am, seven days a week through Columbus Day.
The Harbor Overlook will remain open fall weekends.

Artists change weekly, throughout the season.  Over 95 will participate this year. Stroll along Hyannis Harbor and the Walkway-to-the-Sea and meet Cape Cod artists working and selling their hand-made or hand crafted art.  Work includes a variety of media: photography, paint, jewelry; ceramics, mosaics, mariner knot work, wood carving, tapestry, fiber art and more. There is no fee to browse and of course if purchases are made it is a fabulous way to shop local and support the creative economy.

The shanties are located in two spots along Hyannis Harbor: Bismore Park, Ocean Street and at the Harbor Overlook, along the Walkway-to-the-Sea at the corner of South and Ocean Street.  The Bismore Park Shanties are named for the town’s seven villages and each shanty exterior features past and present images of the town of Barnstable’s seven villages.  The Harbor Overlook shanties are named for Town of Barnstable beaches:  Sandy Neck Beach, Craigville and Keyes.

About the program: Each year, this popular attraction provides a picturesque setting for visitors to stroll the waterfront, meet local artists,  listen to music, dine in one of several restaurants or picnic in the park, taking in all the sights and sounds of a working waterfront.  The Town run program provides affordable rental space for Cape Cod artists and artisans to work and sell at these “seaside studios”.  This program provides prime visibility and opportunities for artists to gain and improve business, marketing and selling skills, connect with other artists and meet visitors from around the world.
