Congressman Keating Announces P-Town Airport Funds

$2.97 million for rehab and environmental work...
Congressman William Keating

Washington, DC - Congressman Bill Keating announced today that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted the Town of Provincetown $2.97 million in Department of Transportation (DOT) funding for a wide range of surface rehabilitation work and major environmental mitigation to nearby marshlands at Provincetown Municipal Airport.  The funds will be used to resurface landing and taxiing ways and repave adjoining surface roads, and to restore and recreate wetlands and coastal dunes that would be impacted during airport improvements.

“Communities like Provincetown rely on regular air transit as a part of daily life,” said Congressman Keating. “Provincetown Municipal Airport is critically important to the economy not only for Provincetown, but for all towns on the Outer Cape. For the thousands of travelers who pass through Provincetown Airport each year, both visitors and regular commuters, these improvements will help to increase reliability of service and public safety at the airport while maintaining protections for nearby areas of critical natural habitat. I am happy that my office has had the opportunity to work with officials in Provincetown on this project and the many pressing issues facing the Outer Cape community.”

Said Provincetown Town Manager David Panagore: “ I am happy to have such a positive working relationship with Congressman Keating and his staff on a wide range of issues the Town is working on, and I thank him for his continued efforts on our behalf.” welcomes thoughtful comments and the varied opinions of our readers.
