Get Creative this July with Castle Hill

July events at Truro Center for the Arts...

Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill is excited kick off the 2018 summer season!  Now that the warm weather has finally made it to Cape Cod, why not think ahead to those beautiful summer days?  We offer a variety of workshops from beginner to advanced and in media such as ceramic, painting, plein air, mixed media, sculpture and more!  Each year we bring some of the best faculty in from around the country to guide you in pushing your creative boundaries and leave our workshops filled with new energy, knowledge and experiences.

We start July with workshops like Thinking, Working, Space taught by Judy Pfaff, DIY 3D Clay Printers taught by Bryan Czibesz and Beastly & Fowl: A Sculptural Exploration in Clay taught by Hanna Niswanger.

This summer we will be welcoming back several faculty members who have taught exciting and innovative workshops for us in the past as well as welcoming many new faculty members who you won’t want to miss including Jile Gearan, Sian Robertson, Jacqueline Bishop, Anna Hoberman and Benjamin Edmison  - and that’s just in July!

On July 10th we will be holding our yearly John P. Bunker Lecture Series. This year’s speaker is Ray Barfield who will be discussing his book How Storytelling Taught Me That Talking About Death Is Part Of Living A Great Life. This lecture is free to the public and will be taking place at the UU Church in Provincetown.   July 11th will be an exciting evening filled with poetry and jazz when Robert Pinsky, Lawrence Hobgood, Stan Strickland and Catherine Bent will be performing.  PoemJazz intertwines language and instrument, emphasizing the physical and melodic qualities of voice, as well as the way jazz improvisation can sometimes seem to speak.   Robert Pinsky will also be teaching a two day workshop The Sound of Poetry on July 14-15.

One of Castle Hill’s signature events will be taking place on July 14th with our Pamet River Float. During this event you take an inner tube ride down the Pamet River which gives you the opportunity to lay back and relax while taking in the spectacular views that you can only take in on the river.   The summer wouldn’t be complete without our Annual Summer Bash, which will be held at Edgewood Farm where you will have the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful summer night with delicious food, signature cocktails and music provided by Chandler Travis Philharmonic.  This is a great community event that allows attendees to see our newest campus at Edgewood Farm and see all of the renovations we have made over the last few years to this unique property while enjoying a terrific evening.
