From the Dennis Historical Society...
Ladies, gentlemen, and children of all ages will be enchanted by the Rhyme and Reason: Meet Mother Goose special event at Josiah Dennis Manse Saturday, July 21, from 1-4pm.
The 18th century home to the town’s namesake minister will come alive with nursery-rhyme-themed rooms and outdoor areas where young and old alike can sit on a tuffet like Little Miss Muffet or jump over candlesticks like Jack Be Nimble. Visitors will explore the history and politics behind their favorite children’s verse stories as docent Lisa Parker portrays Mother Goose to the delight of guests and oversees a dozen or more displays keyed to memorable tales, including all-time favorites like Humpty Dumpty and Jack and Jill.
The Josiah Dennis Manse is located at 61 Whig Street in Dennis Village. Admission to this afternoon event is free, though donations are gratefully accepted. The Manse is open this summer through August 31 on Tuesdays from 10am to 1pm and on Thursdays from 1-4pm, as well as on select Saturdays.
