Pedestrian Struck by Car in Cotuit Tuesday Night

UPDATE: VICTIM HAS DIED

Update 11:40 a.m. Wednesday

The victim in last night's pedestrian crash has died.  The Mashpee Police Department identified the victim as Michele Poirier, age 59, of Mashpee.  Ms. Poirier was pronounced dead at Cape Cod Hospital.

The incident remains under investigation by Mashpee Police and the Cape Cod regional crash reconstruction team.

A pedestrian was struck by a car and suffered serious injuries Tuesday night in Cotuit.  The incident happened on Route 28 near the Mashpee town line.  Both Cotuit and Mashpee crews responded to the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, a red Ford Crown Victoria, remained at the scene.   

The victim reportedly suffered serious injuries.  A MedFlight chopper was not available due to weather conditions so the patient was transported to Cape Cod Hospital.  

Barnstable Police are investigating the incident.  No further information is available at this time.
