Wareham Police Arrest Man for Fourth OUI

Subject allegedly forced a cop car off the road to avoid a crash...

From the Wareham Police Department:

On Friday, July 27th at about 9:15 PM, Officers Stephen Harrison and Aaron Pacheco were on patrol in the White Island area as part of a Federal Grant program.

While driving on Barker Road, Officer Pacheco was forced to swerve off of the roadway to prevent a head-on collision with a vehicle completely in the wrong lane. A crash was barely averted, however the offending vehicle continued down Barker Road.

Officer Pacheco turned his cruiser around and pursued the vehicle, whose driver pulled over and stopped on Morrison Street.

After an investigation at the scene, Ronald Deshiro Jr., 55, of East Wareham was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for booking. Mr. Deshiro is scheduled to appear in Wareham District Court on Monday and faces the following charges:

  • Operating under the influence of liquor, fourth offense
  • Negligent operation of a motor vehicle 
  • Marked lanes violation
