Starting August 1st, a young, Harvard-trained scientist named Shahir Masri is deferring his career for one year to mobilize public action on climate change across the country. The year will kick off with an 11-week educational climate advocacy tour across 35 states. Joined by his partner Athina Simolaris, the two will speak with community groups, churches, and school campuses in order to communicate the important message of climate science to the public and spark a national climate conversation among the youth. Shahir and Athina have booked speaking venues far and wide, and will be interviewing citizens along their entire route to better understand what aspects of climate change matter most to people and how we can move forward with climate solutions.

Their hope is to inspire, educate and inform communities about climate change as well as provide a platform (their website and video blog) through which they will share the stories and concerns expressed by those afflicted by climate change. “On the Road for Climate Action” plans to carry the nation on-board as the project touches down in unique towns, cities, and rural areas. Please visit their website below to learn more abheir upcoming project, and to watch their 2-minute video trailer.
