Joe Glynn Appointed to UMass Amherst Parent Advisory Board

The enclosed acceptance letter from the University of Massachusetts Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Campus Life, as well as, Enku Gelaye Jeanne Horrigan, Director of University of Massachusetts-Office of Parent Services announces that Joseph B. Glynn has been selected and has accepted the appointment to the UMASS Parent Advisory Council.  Joe Glynn a Board Commissioner and Assistant Treasurer on the Yarmouth Housing Authority and a Candidate for Barnstable  County of Assembly of Delegates this November, will be one of a select few in the Commonwealth on this Distinguished Board that acts as a liaison between Parents/Families/Students and Staff and the University Administration and provides necessary guidance as UMASS Amherst improves its reputation as a World Class Public University. 

Hyannis Park -West Yarmouth  Resident Joe Glynn has a 2018 UMASS Isenberg School of Business Dual Degree Graduate and two current Undergraduates in the Classes of  2020 & 2022 all who were educated on Cape Cod in the D-Y, Nauset and Sturgis School Districts.  His newest UMASS Freshman rounded out the Glynn Family at Sturgis West (SW) by learning that he completed the Full International Baccalaureate Degree by distinguishing himself, as the only SW Student with a 6 of 7 IB score in Higher Level Business.  All three Glynn sons have joined UMASS with their class having been the highest achieving classes in history, culminating in this years class having an average GPA of 3.91 on a 4.0 scale.  They all have enjoyed  many student life benefits including the national distinction, as "The Best Dining Services in the Nation", having been Ranked #1 in the USA, for the last three years in the row! 

Joe announced his appointment immediately on the UMASS Parent to Parent Facebook page that provides helpful sounding board information for UMASS Parents, Students and Families from move in questions, to scheduling and peace of mind support for all those navigating, the many facets college life on the "Commonwealth's Flagship Campus".

The Parent Advisory Council represents more than 50,000 parents/families and over 25,000 students, including a Freshman Class of over 5500.  Mr. Glynn said , in a brief Facebook Post, on Friday morning upon receipt of his acceptance letter:  " I am excited to announce my appointment to the UMASS Parent Advisory Council...#UnitetheMasses".  

UMASS boast hundreds of Cape Students including many, current Yarmouth and Mid-Cape Students and thousand of Cape Parents and UMASS Alumnus!  UMASS is not your Grand Parents, or Parents UMASS and is improving in many ways!  The relationship and culture that is being fostered,  for all those involved with Campus Life, along with these recognitions, is no doubt due in no small measure to the commitment to great communications between Parents/Families/Students and Staff and Administration!  The Parent Advisory Council provides a necessary link as the liason to all those vital members of the UMASS Family! welcomes thoughtful comments and the varied opinions of our readers.
