Woman Severely Beaten in Hyannis Overnight

Victim transferred to a Boston hospital...

Barnstable Police report that officers were called Tuesday at 11:54 p.m. to a town parking lot behind the JFK Museum in Hyannis.

The caller reported that a woman had been badly assaulted near the public rest rooms.

Officers determined that a forty-year-old West Yarmouth woman had been beaten by two or three unidentified suspects who fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.

Witnesses in the area were able to recount the event to investigators who are working to identify the assailants.

The victim was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with head and facial injuries.  She was later transferred to Mass Eye & Ear in Boston, where she remains in stable condition.

No further information is available at this time.  Barnstable Police report their investigation is ongoing.
