Next Chatham Citizens Police Academy Class is Forming

Applications for the 2019 Citizen's Police Academy are now available. The Citizen's Police Academy is a ten week program for members of the public to get an inside look at the day to day operation and function of the police department. Each class session is presented by members of the Chatham Police Department with occasional guest presenters from outside agencies that support the police department. The 2019 program begins on Monday January 28, 2019. Class sessions are held on Monday evenings from 6pm-9pm at the Chatham Police Department on George Ryder Rd.

Topics of instruction include;
- Criminal & Constitutional Law
- Domestic Violence
- Mental Health
- Police Training & Ethics
- Interview & Interrogation
- Traffic Enforcement
- Crash Investigation & Reconstruction
- Use of Force
- Drugs & Narcotic Investigations
- Patrol Procedures

The program is limited to a class size of 15 participants and a commitment to the full ten week program is required. Chatham residents and business owners are given preference but all are encouraged to apply. Applications are available in person at the police department or are available on the police department page at the Town of Chatham website.
