Fatal Crash in Harwich

Single car crash on Long Pond Drive

Developing story...

Shortly after 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Harwich Police reported that Long Pond Drive in the area of Oak Street would be closed "for an extended period of time" "due to a serious motor vehicle accident".

Reports from the scene indicate this was a single vehicle crash involving a silver compact SUV that apparently crashed into a utility pole.  The front end of the vehicle appears to be badly mangled.

The driver is reported to have died at the scene.

Harwich Police have not yet released an official statement on this crash.
