Maplewood at Mayflower Place in West Yarmouth unveiled its annual Gingerbread Display, "It's a Wonderful Life." The sprawling gingerbread house and landscape were designed and created by Maplewood's pastry chef, Robert Janson, who spent a whopping 120 hours to create the gingerbread winter scene!

Robert, a self-taught artist, began his design with cardboard and glue and worked on the display for an entire year from January to December, as he does every year. In December, every year Robert, who has been with Maplewood for 25 years, reveals the season's new gingerbread house to the residents at Mayflower Place, and the gingerbread house is displayed in the lobby as part of the holiday and winter decorations for residents to enjoy.
