Letter Regarding Yarmouth Selectmen's Action on Middle School

from Maureen Tuohy-Bedford of West Yarmouth

Maureen Tuohy-Bedford (West Yarmouth) here.

Average Citizen.

Try to Be Involved.

Have children.

Love children.

Value children.

Love Schools.

Love Education.

Love Teachers.

Actually got my degree in same.

I DON’T love the seemingly continuous corner I feel that I am put-in...to continuously Fund one Town ‘Area’ (Schools) at the expense of the REST of my Town Areas.

The Request for the seemingly never-ending One-More-Little-Tax-Addition (Override ~ which is usually approved for the good of the children...) was thrown into an upheaval in December for the Town Of Yarmouth...as we were asked to fund a BIG BIG BIG Project...With a BIG BIG TAX BILL.

And The Voters Of Yarmouth DID SPEAK.

They/we DID NOT say No-to-the-Children.

They/We said No-to-the-Proposed-Plan.

Our Selectmen have a Responsibility that they take very seriously - to Listen to their Community...and THAT they are doing. We are Lucky to have them.

Projects of Such FINANCIAL ENORMITY need to take into account NOT just the Good of The Children...

But the Good of the Community as a whole.

Feel-Good-Responsibility MUST include Fiscal-Responsibilty...

and that means CUT.

Amend. Edit. Revise.

And any little ‘SLAP’ at We-The-People who Voted No...for Saying No...
