Five count conviction gets sentence of five years

Statement from the office of District Attorney Michael O'Keefe...

Cape & Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe announced today that on February 28, 2019 following a four day jury trial, Blake Rider (d.o.b. 8/3/79) of Forestdale, was found guilty of five counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a child under the age of 14.

The Honorable Lisa F. Edmonds sentenced Rider to the Barnstable House of Correction for a total of 5 years committed with 8 years concurrent probation. Rider will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.

The charges stem from a series of incidents dating back to 2010 where the defendant molested three young girls, all under the age of 14, over a six year period. The incidents were later reported to the police.

The case was investigated by the Sandwich Police Department, along with Children’s Cove.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jessica M. Croker.
