From the Falmouth Fire/Rescue Department:

A short time ago, FFRD units (Ambulance, Dive Truck and Shift Commander) were dispatched to the Dillingham Ave area of Morse Pond for a dog thru the ice.

Crews arived to find dog (later identified as "Abbie"), had fallen thru the ice approx 50' from the nearest access point.

Members donned ice rescue suits, entered the water and Abbie was quickly rescued. She was brought to shore and warmed with blankets.

Her owner was contacted, and Abbie and family were quickly reunited.

This event had a happy ending! We would like to use this incident as a reminder, local fire departments are properly equipped and properly trained for this type of situation.
