From the Sandwich Police Department:

The Sandwich Police Department is investigating a serious motor vehicle crash that sent one to the hospital.

At approximately 12:09 am the Sandwich Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with injury on Old County Rd. Upon arrival, police observed a brown Honda Civic with extensive damage. The vehicle had struck a tree, rolled over, and landed leaning against a utility pole. Officers learned a passenger in the car fled the scene prior to police arrival. The male operator, a 20 year old male from Sandwich, was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The operator will be summonsed for OUI liquor, operating to endanger, and a marked lanes violation.

It was later determined the 19 year old male passenger, also from Sandwich, called a friend for a ride. Both parties were located by police. The operator who arrived to pick up his friend was found to be intoxicated. As a result, 19 year old Cole Woodbury of Sandwich, was arrested and charged with OUI liquor and Forgery of an RMV Document. The male passenger was taken into protective custody.
