From the Yarmouth Police Department:
15 YEAR OLD RUNAWAY CHARGED IN LIQUOR STORE BREAK
On Monday, April 15, 2019 at midnight, Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a break in progress at Bass River Liquors in South Yarmouth.
A concerned citizen had called the Yarmouth Police Department Emergency 911 Center reporting hearing a loud crashing noise and suspicious activity at the closed liquor store. Another concerned citizen reported seeing a subject running from the Liquor Store eastbound on the adjacent Willow Street.
Patrol Officer Paul Mellett, Sean Brewer, Kevin Antonovitch, and several other Yarmouth Police Patrol Officers as well as Massachusetts State Police responded and saturated the area.
Massachusetts State Trooper Clouse located a male walking in the area. A check of this person located seven ‘nip’ sized liquor bottles in his pocket. This juvenile male indicated he had obtained them from a friend who he was staying at the nearby Juvenile Center. The juvenile male was placed under arrest for being a Person under 21 in Possession of Alcohol and transported to the State Police Barracks
The investigation continued and Yarmouth Police Officers learned that the staff at the Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps Adolescent Center located on Run Pond Road reported several runaways had returned back to the facility.
Patrol Officers Alex Xiarhos and Louis Nickinello responded to the RFK Juvenile Center and found that one of the returning juveniles matched the description of the suspect captured on the security system video which showed the suspect repeatedly smashing the front glass and forcing access.
Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigator William Jacques responded to Bass River Liquor to document the damage. He also responded to the RFK Center and provided evidence collection services.
The juvenile was held at the Center and will be charged in the Barnstable Juvenile Court this week.
