Mythbuster in Bourne!

May 15th at Jonathan Bourne Historical Center

Bourne, MA: Do we really know the true story of the Mayflower and the Pilgrim landing of 1620? What is the true story of Plymouth Rock? What was the true relationship of Massasoit to the Pilgrims or to Squanto? What myths and misconceptions have been told about our Plymouth beginnings?

Join the Bourne Historical Society along with Matt Villamaino, for a talk about the myths and misconceptions surrounding the Pilgrims.  Mr. Villamaino is a history enthusiast and Certified Interpretive Trainer.  He has a clear understanding that myth busting is an important part of historic interpretation. As we approach the 400th Anniversary of the Mayflower Landing, we hope to discover a true understanding of the significance of this event.

A long-time history enthusiast, Matt Villamaino became involved in the field of interpretation as a volunteer at Jamestown Settlement while living in Virginia. After returning to Massachusetts, Matt began work with the Department of Conservation and Recreation. As a Certified Interpretive Trainer, Matt has taught the principles of interpretation to people from numerous organizations including the National Park Service, Pilgrim Hall Museum, and Plymouth 400.

Cost: Free; Suggested donation to the Bourne Historical Society.
