Five Monomoy Regional High School students were honored with prizes for their entries in this year’s Law Day Essay Contest, held by the Barnstable County Bar Association.

MRHS junior Mila Bologna was awarded First Place; junior Joseph Cottle, Second Place; junior Hayden Casterlin, Third Place; and Honorable Mentions went to freshmen Hanna Slater and Talia Ricard. The students won cash prizes ranging from $50 to $200.

The 2019 Law Day theme was “Free Speech, Free Press, Free Society.” Students were asked to write an essay on this topic in response to a specific quote from Thomas Jefferson. All of the Monomoy students honored were in Richard Houston’s U.S. and World History classes.
