MASHPEE, MASS. – The Spice & Tea Exchange®, a specialty retail store offering an extensive collection of more than 140 spices, 85 custom hand-mixed blends, 40+ exotic teas, exclusive seasonings, salts and naturally-flavored sugars, recently opened its doors in Mashpee. The new store is located in Mashpee Commons, and will be open 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Local owner, Paulette Callender is inviting the community to celebrate the grand opening of The Spice & Tea Exchange with events beginning on Friday, July 5, 2019 and continuing through Monday, July 8, 2019. Delicious culinary and tea samples will be served all weekend-long along with daily raffles.

The Spice & Tea Exchange of Mashpee offers a one-of-a-kind and interactive experience for home cooks of all ages and skill levels. Upon entering the charming atmosphere, guests are greeted by the rich sights of old-world apothecary jars and the spellbinding smells of spices, sugars, salts and loose-leaf teas from all around the world. With 95 percent of the blends mixed in-store, everyone can find fresh ingredients for any meal or occasion in one convenient place.

For those looking for a beverage on the go, the Mashpee store also houses a tea bar with a variety of hot and iced teas to choose from. Additionally, The Spice & Tea Exchange of Mashpee offers culinary kits, gift boxes, and kitchen accessories as unique options for anyone from first time chefs to health gurus, and everyone in between.

“Since we opened our doors, residents and Cape Cod visitors alike have been pouring in to pick up blends and seasonings that are perfect additions to local favorites; the Colonial Seasoning complements soups and stews and our Crab and Shrimp Boil Spice Blend makes every seafood boil a hit,” said Callender. “We even serve teas tied to local history. You can get a cup of Bohea Tea at our tea bar, the same tea that American Colonists threw into the water at the Boston Tea Party.”

The Mashpee location opens as Callender celebrates the tenth anniversary of her Sarasota, Fla. location. Her journey to owning two The Spice & Tea Exchange stores started while she was living in Australia with her now husband. During her time abroad, she worked at various cafes and found a passion for cooking, with local influences like Indian and Thai food driving her creativity. Destiny lead Callender to The Spice & Tea Exchange when she was back in the States. She wanted to do something she loved, and stumbled upon a store one day while in Florida. Fast forward to today and she is opening her second location.

“Upon stepping into The Spice & Tea Exchange for the first time, I fell in love with the interactive experience. You have the ability to open the vintage apothecary jars on the shelves and indulge in the smells of fresh, hand-made blends,” say Callender. “With so many different blends to choose from, I know it’ll be hard for residents of Mashpee to resist the free aromatherapy the store offers!”
