July Events at the Cotuit Library

A little something for everyone...

Dinoman - Space Program

Tuesday, July 2nd @ 3:00PM

Cotuit Library

871 Main Street

Cotuit MA 02635

508-428-8141

Dinoman is back at the Cotuit Library and bringing his Space program for our Summer Reading Program. Check out this fun, educational show as part of a Universe of Stories, this year’s SRP theme:

‘“Through the solar system and beyond!”… is exactly where Dinoman takes his audience in this fast paced exploration of the heavens. The eight classical planets are visited and investigated—as well as Pluto, gravity, and the incredible cold of space. Dinoman Space uses dinosaurs, meteors, comets, liquid air, and a goldfish to give students a truly unique view of the heavens.

‘This show starts with a birthday for Dinoman’s goldfish. He just happens to turn 23 years old on the day of the performance; and, of course, he wants a dinosaur extinction theme party! Who wouldn’t? From here it’s onward and upward through the solar system and beyond!’ (dinoman.org)

This program is free but please register at cotuitlibrary.org/events or contact the Library.

The Cotuit Library Sci-Fi Book Club is meeting once again for some stellar book discussing. This month we will be reading: The Slow Regard of Silent Things by Patrick Rothfuss . Copies will be available for checkout at the library and in ebook form on the Libby app leading up to the event.

Check out this synopsis of The Slow Regard of Silent Things and then come to the library and grab your copy:

“Deep below the University, there is a dark place. Few people know of it: a broken web of ancient passageways and abandoned rooms. A young woman lives there, tucked among the sprawling tunnels of the Underthing, snug in the heart of this forgotten place.

“Her name is Auri, and she is full of mysteries.

The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a brief, bittersweet glimpse of Auri’s life, a small adventure all her own. At once joyous and haunting, this story offers a chance to see the world through Auri’s eyes. And it gives the reader a chance to learn things that only Auri knows…” (goodreads.com)

Note: Starting July 10th the Sci-Fi Book Club will meet the second Wednesday of every month.

Join us at the Library this weekend as we welcome Kari Parcell of Barnstable County/Mass DEP to come talk about composting here on Cape Cod. This is a great program to learn about waste reduction and how to lead a greener life.

Kari Parcell, MPA, received her undergraduate degree in political science at the University of Oregon and her master’s in public administration at southern new hampshire. She has been living on cape cod for 4- years now, with the most recent being in chatham for the past 5-months. Kari grew up in Oregon and waste reduction was just a part of life; her family reused, recycled, and composted everything. At present she works with 23 municipalities on Cape and Islands on waste reduction programs. She helps them seek funds through the department of environmental protection and other funding sources to create, implement, and expand

recycling and composting programs.
