Statement from the Dennis Police Department (verbatim):

This morning, July 22, 2019, at 9:48 am the Dennis Police Department received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle crash at 5 Lower County Road (Swan River Fish Market), Dennis Port involving a vehicle having struck a building. On arrival officers found that a vehicle had driven over a 3-4 foot retaining wall, and then struck a building at the rear of the Swan River Fish Market.

The crash investigation determined that a 2010 Honda Element first struck a wooden handrail at the front of the fish market, and then continued into the parking lot. The vehicle then drove over the retaining wall, dropped to the ground below, and struck the wall of a building that is part of the fish market property. The operator and a passenger were both transported to Cape Cod Hospital by fire department rescue with non-life threatening injuries. The operator of the vehicle may have been experiencing a medical issue just prior to the crash.

The crash is under investigation by Dennis Patrol Officer Christine Hornby. The Dennis Building Inspector was notified and responded to the scene to assess the damage to the building.
