Sheriff's Office Opens Hiring Process for New Officers

The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office is seeking individuals for the position of Corrections Officer.  Corrections Officers are required to maintain care, custody and control of inmates in a correctional institution for men and women located in Bourne.

Applicants must attain 21 years of age by completion of the academy (April 2020), a high school diploma or equivalent is required, college degree, military service or supervisory experience is desirable.  Applicants must meet the requirements to obtain a pistol permit.  Applicants will be subject to a written exam, physical fitness test, oral board, and complete background check.  A valid Massachusetts driver’s license is required.  Those selected will attend an 11 week academy (paid) in early 2020.
