NWS: After a Glorious Monday, Rain Moves in Tuesday

Fine summer day today with temperatures by 4 PM reaching the upper 70s and 80s. Change of pace Tuesday, as an approaching cold front brings showers and scattered thunderstorms.

Lots of humidity will be in place for the storms to feed upon, so expect some local downpours. Areas that drain poorly may experience local flooding for a brief time from such downpours.

Best chance of 1-2 inches of rain will be in parts of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Southeast Massachusetts.

Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
Tuesday
A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 77. Southwest wind 13 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Tuesday Night
Showers, mainly before midnight. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 68. Southwest wind 5 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. North wind 8 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
