Convicted Domestic Abuser Gets 4-5 Years at MCI-Cedar Junction

District Attorney Michael O’Keefe announced today that a Barnstable Superior Court Jury found Tyson M. Colton (DOB: 08/08/1977, of Yarmouth, MA) guilty of Burning a Motor Vehicle, Intimidation of a Witness, and Criminal Harassment. The jury deliberated for approximately three hours after a five day trial before returning their verdict.

The Honorable Judge Robert C. Rufo sentenced Colton to 4 to 5 years committed at MCI-Cedar Junction on the Intimidation of a Witness charge. Colton was sentenced to concurrent time on the Burning a Motor Vehicle charge, and 3 years of probation on the Criminal Harassment charge. Colton was sentenced to concurrent time and concurrent probation on other related charges.

The charges stem from a series of domestic violence incidents which occurred between June and July 2018 in the towns of Brewster and Barnstable, which culminated in Colton setting fire to his ex-girlfriend’s motor vehicle at her residence during the night of July 15, 2018.

The case was investigated by the Brewster Police Department.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Michael A. Patterson.
