Letter Expressing Concern Over "Flagrant Disregard for Transparency" by Assembly of Delegates' Committee

from County Commissioner Ron Beaty

Letter to the Editor:

I have some grave concerns about a recently created regional public body called the “Charter Recall Provision Sub-Committee.”

Said Sub-Committee was established by the Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates which is the legislative branch of our Cape Cod Regional Government.

The “Charter Recall Provision Sub-Committee” has since held at least one meeting which was not video recorded, and which likely violated the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law because the board by that time had not officially adopted an alternative meeting notice venue on the internet, and further failed to notify the Attorney General’s of such action as required by law.

Furthermore, other than a flagrant disregard for transparency, there exists serious concern that such a County election recall provision sub-committee may be grossly biased in its makeup since it is completely composed of female socialist-leaning Democrats who have all publicly exhibited animosity and/or demanded the resignation or recall of a conservative Republican County Commissioner, me.

This potentially misandrist regional body  runs the risk of marginalizing male residents and officials during the process of its respective deliberations and thereby weakening public confidence in its ability to objectively discuss and debate the subject with which it has been charged.

With the aforementioned concerns in mind, the credibility of any conclusions and final report issued by the Sub-Committee in question will be seriously eroded and compromised by the manner in which the flawed process has been and continues to be approached.

The public deserves much better than what has obviously evolved as a thinly disguised political witch hunt against me by fanatically partisan local Democratic Party operatives that sit on the so called “Charter Recall Provision Sub-Committee.”

The public at large should carefully scrutinize each and every action of this highly questionable committee as the process moves forward.
