South Dennis Student Earns Spot on Assumption's Women's Cross Country Team

Another outstanding local student...

WORCESTER, MA - The Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced that Sydney McCann, of South Dennis, has earned a spot on the 2019 Greyhounds Women's Cross Country team. McCann, Class of 2022, is competing during the fall season.

The Hounds look to follow up a successful 2018 season in which they placed fourth in the NCAA East Regional meet and third in the Northeast 10 Championships, their fifth straight year placing within the top three. Last year, the Hounds were led by Kialeigh Marston '20, who qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships after finishing fourth at the NCAA East Regional.

"Another exciting year is on the horizon for us," said Head Coach Trent Baltzell, who welcomes the return of all top-five members from last year's team. "The pieces are in place to qualify for NCAAs in Sacramento and as long as we execute a couple solid late-season races with our top runners healthy and toeing the line, I wouldn't bet against us. The same goes for this group's ability in the classroom-I will be very happy and proud of them if they can add another Dean's List semester to their list of accomplishments."
