From the Tisbury Police Department:

On September 30, 2019, at approximately 0200 hours, Officer Duquette and Sergeant Day were on patrol in the area of Cumberland Farms.

While monitoring traffic, officers observed a pickup truck with utility trailer pass their location at a high rate of speed, screeching its tires.

Officer Duquette pulled up behind the vehicle and attempted to initiate a motor vehicle stop.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop by Martha's Vineyard Hospital and the operator was taken into custody without issue.

It was later discovered that the operator had just made detailed and specific statements that he intended on harming the first police officer he saw by striking them with his vehicle.

While officers were placing the subject into custody he admitted to ingesting cocaine prior to driving.

The operator was charged with failing to stop for police, operating under the influence of drugs, possession of ammunition without an FID card, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, marked lanes violations, defective equipment and unsecured load.
