Late night Hyannis crash results in drunken driving arrest

Residents of Sea St. Hyannis experienced a sudden power-outage Saturday night after a Volvo station wagon struck a utility pole at Sea St. and Ocean Avenue. The 10:30 pm accident caught the attention of nearby residents who observed a female exiting the damaged Volvo and fleeing on foot. Sometime later, residents heard a woman calling for help and Barnstable officers located 48-year-old Nicole L. Andrews of Hyannis in a nearby backyard. Further investigation revealed Andrews to be the owner of the crashed vehicle and allegedly the vehicle’s operator at the time of the accident. Andrews was placed under arrest and transported to the Barnstable Police Station where she was booked on charges of Operating under the Influence of Alcohol 2nd Offense, Leaving the Scene of an Accident after Property Damage, and Operating to Endanger. Andrews is scheduled for arraignment in Barnstable District on Monday, October 7th.
