District Attorney - Homicide Victim Died of Three Gunshot Wounds

Victim identified as murder investigation continues...

From the Office of Cape & Island's District Attorney Michael O'Keefe (verbatim):

District Attorney Michael O’Keefe and Barnstable Police Chief Matthew Sonnabend announced today that on October 16, 2019 at approximately 1:16 p.m. police received a 911 call reporting a physical altercation at 362 Yarmouth Road in Hyannis. Upon arrival police observed a male lying on the ground. The victim has been identified as Darrell A. Russ (dob: 9-6-86) of Hyannis. Russ was transported to Cape Cod Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

An autopsy was performed today at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston. Preliminary indications are that the deceased died as a result of three gunshot wounds. The manner of death is homicide. The matter remains an ongoing and active investigation by Barnstable Police and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office.
