Letter Criticizes Assembly Delegate for Providing Wrong Info to Media

from County Commissioner Ron Beaty

Editor:

With regard to a lengthy and questionable article titled “County Government: the nuts and bolts” published in the November 8th edition of the Cape Codder Newspaper and authored by Mary Chaffee, the Brewster Delegate to the County Assembly, it should be noted that the correct website address for our Cape Cod Regional Government known as Barnstable County is: www.barnstablecounty.org rather than the erroneous internet venue at barnstablecountyhrc.org.

The website mistakenly provided by Delegate Chaffee is actually for the County Human Rights Advisory Commission.

When one provides information to the community about Barnstable County Government, it is imperative that the information be accurate and up to date.

If data is not current and precise, then it not only does a disservice to the public, but reflects negatively upon the credibility of the one purportedly claiming to be an expert on said governmental entity, but also the County as a whole.

In my opinion, persons with political ambitions, who also happen to be know it alls, should at least make sure their research is accurate and complete beforehand.

Thank you.

RON BEATY

Barnstable County Commissioner
