PEMBROKE, MA-Candidate for state senate Becky Coletta announced her team today as she ramps up her campaign for the Plymouth and Barnstable senate district to replace Senator Vinny deMacedo, who recently resigned to take a position at Bridgewater State University.
“I am proud that we have assembled a great team of dedicated experienced professionals that combines local and state government experience with political acumen to achieve our goal of reaching out to voters across the district to discuss the issues that residents face every day. With their help and our grassroots strategy of building a strong coalition of voters who believe in progressive leadership, our campaign will be working hard every day to win this race,” said Coletta.
Coletta has hired Greg Maynard as a senior campaign strategist. Greg is an experienced campaign manager and consultant with a focus on local campaigns. In addition to managing and advising candidate campaigns, Greg also has a record of success on local ballot question campaigns, including managing Somerville's first successful Proposition 2 1/2 debt exclusion override for their new $257 million high school.
Greg got his first taste of local campaigning as a student at UMass Amherst, where he organized students across the state to push cities and towns to support expanding the bottle bill. He went on to work as a field organizer on youth voter mobilization and reducing student debt before joining Senator Elizabeth Warren's 2012 campaign.
Also joining the campaign as a senior advisor is Pete Wilson. Pete has managed and served as a consultant on local, state, and congressional campaigns including special elections for state senate and Congress. A Kingston resident, Pete is an experienced communications and policy professional who has worked in both municipal and state government including as Legislative Director for the Massachusetts House Committee on Ways and Means and as Press Secretary for former Senate President Stan Rosenberg. Pete is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder and the George Washington University.
Coletta has tapped Pembroke Board of Selectmen member Jessica Bradley Rushing as her campaign manager. Rushing is a Pembroke native who graduated from Silver Lake and Boston University. An Army veteran who enlisted after 9/11, Rushing served as a Civil Affairs specialist, graduating from both the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School in Fort Bragg and the Defense Language Institute and Foreign Language Center in Monterey, CA as a Russian linguist. After leaving the Army, she worked as a Department of Defense contractor for a private consulting firm just outside Washington, D.C.
Rushing serves as the Director of Communications for the Officer Down Memorial Page (ODMP), a national non-profit and the largest law enforcement memorial in the country, honoring the memories of law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. She lives in Pembroke with her husband and four children.
