From the Barnstable Police Department:

The Officer involved in the accident yesterday is a 31 year veteran of the Barnstable Police Department. He remains in a Boston area hospital receiving treatment for the injuries he sustained, but is alert and in good spirits. We are hoping that he will be released home to his family soon.

The operator of the vehicle involved was not injured and has been cooperating with the investigation which is ongoing.

The Barnstable Police Department would like to thank the men and women of the Centerville-Osterville Marstons Mills Fire Department for their professional and compassionate care of our fellow Officer. All of the Fire Departments in the Town of Barnstable provide excellent fire and rescue services to our community everyday. We are honored to work alongside each of them. THANK YOU!

We would also like to thank you to everyone that has sent prayers and well wishes for the Officer. Anyone wishing to send a card can do so to the Barnstable Police Department and we will deliver them to the Officer.
